Iskanderkul in the Fann Mountains is probably the most famous and photographed lake in Tajikistan. I had the chance to visit there and, of course, take pictures of this beautiful mountain lake. We stayed at Iskanderkul for a few days, walking around the lake and its surroundings. We were very lucky with the weather, we swam and sunbathed, and only on the last day did clouds appear and it started to rain. In the end, we had a great time, and I put together this and several other photo reviews of our outings in the area, as well as a separate detailed article about the description and legends of Iskanderkul Lake.
While I was putting together these photo reviews, I gathered a lot of information about Iskanderkul Lake. I didn't mix everything into one pile, but wrote a separate article where I mentioned the most significant events, legends, and other things related to the lake. Of course, one could add various physical, geological, climatic, and other boring parameters about Iskanderkul Lake, but if anyone is interested, they can easily google it all. As for the photos, well, to capture such a complex and beautiful object as Iskanderkul Lake, you need a decent camera, and a good photographer wouldn't hurt either. But all I had was myself and my point-and-shoot camera, so please don't judge too harshly...
The first photo of Iskanderkul Lake is taken from the road.
We stopped at the Iskanderkul tourist center, a path leads from the houses to the lake.
Despite April, it is hot in summer, I even took a swim, since the beach has.
In the same place, already on May Day early morning.
A day later we went to the "Observation point", a photo on the way.
The gate in front of the lake and a view of the Big Hansa mountain.
Iskandarya river flows out of the lake.
We climbed higher, and the same places, the bridge, the barrier, the beginning of the Iskandarya.
This is almost the same, only the bridge is not visible. You can see the beginning of some kind of construction, there, near the bridge, there was a poster with info, they seem to want to build something serious with swimming pools, buildings for vacationers.
We rise higher.
View of the Kyrk-Shaitan mountain and the Mukhta gorge, along which the Sarytag river flows, flowing into the Iskanderkul lake.
By the way, if you zoom in, you can see a cave in the lower right corner, this is "Bucephalus's stall".
Here's what else to write, but for sure - this is Lake Iskanderkul :)
Finally, however, already in splendid isolation I got to this "observation point", it is something like a small pass.
From this "Observation Point" you can clearly see the entire dam-dam that holds the lake.
Here is the path along the ridge, it goes just to the "Observation Point".
This is a view of the Big Hansa, the gorge of the Serima river, the Serpent Lake, now, the White Bars peak is also visible.
In the other direction, a view of the large bay opens into which the Khazormech river flows.
If you go straight along the gorge, you can go to the Angisht pass, if to the left in the gorge, then to the Ghaznok pass.
On the way back we went to the famous sight of Iskanderkul - "House Book". This stone is all painted in style, Vasya was here, it is located not far from the houses of the weather station.
It is also notable for the fact that the first inscription on it was left by the members of the expedition of General Abramov, which, unpretentiously, the inscription narrates, in an even pre-revolutionary style - РУСКIЕ 1870.
Last day at the lake, walked along the beach again.
Before our departure, Iskanderkul frowned with clouds, preparing to cry with rains. No need to cry - we will definitely be back...
In the vicinity of Lake Iskanderkul, there are still interesting objects, after visiting which I also made several photo reviews, in particular:
Waterfall at Iskan Darya;
Snake Lake;
Arg Gorge.
