The tradition of Epiphany bathing dates back to ancient times. Of course, if you have the opportunity to bathe in the holy Jordan River (in Israel) on Epiphany, do not miss it. However, you can bathe on Epiphany in any lake, river, or body of water. It is preferable for the ice hole to be in the form of a cross. But there are no strict rules for how to bathe on Epiphany. In other words, a mountain river, in our case, is perfect.
The water is considered healing only on the 18th and 19th of January, the two days of Epiphany. It is on these days that you should bathe. The best time to bathe is during the Epiphany night. It is in the first few hours after the baptism of Jesus that the water has the most powerful healing and cleansing properties. We went to the mountains specifically for the Epiphany bathing, and the most convenient place to go was Odzhuk Gorge in Varzob, and we found a very convenient spot near the third bridge.
Well, that's all, the photographer let us down a little, the whole process was not really photographed.
Feelings are incomparable, straight heart beat in a cosmic rhythm.
Immediately somehow warmed up, amused ...
According to the popular belief, baptismal bathing removes all sins. But, more precisely, the real meaning of bathing for baptism is a rite of reconciliation with God and repentance.
Thought, can still bathe, maybe not all sins washed away :)
The purpose of this trip was precisely Epiphany bathing, but still, I did a couple of shots along the way. It was cloudy, the rain tried to drip, and given that I'm still the photographer. Well, however, judge for yourself.
Then I liked the tree, as it was perched under a rock in a river practically ...
Here is a dry waterfall.
And here, quite a full-flowing waterfall, the current is small.
Here is another very unusual tree that grows horizontally. On the trunk it is not clear whether the branches, or new trees climbed.
A sheer cliff overgrown with moss.
January, nature on pause, no snow, no greenery. All in anticipation of spring.
Mountain road.
