The 21st kilometer gorge is probably one of the most visited gorges in the Varzob area, at least it used to be. It starts, as the name suggests, at the 21st kilometer of the Varzob highway and stretches for about half a day's journey until it reaches a waterfall. It's very convenient for a day hike. But that's in the summer, and today I don't think we'll make it to the waterfall, but nevertheless, we'll wander around...
Here is the 21st kilometer, but there are no signs to identify it..
We will not go along the bottom of the gorge, as usual, but along this new road that we recently conducted.
It goes along the left slope and is quite high, so in the beginning you will have to overcome the climb, well, it is gentle and does not cause any special difficulties, but it can be removed from it.
Here, we have a view of the village, beyond which there is a passage to the 30-meter waterfall Gusgarf, we go to it sometime next time.
View of the Varzob gorge towards Khujand.
Going upstairs, you can see how cottages were located down the bottom of the gorge, apparently the owners of these were the initiators of the creation of a new road. So that all sorts of rogues with their campaigns, do not interfere with them to enjoy the rest.
This is what the new road looks like.
View from this road down to the gorge.
On the way a stream met, which goes underground and does not flow further, like a river in Fans.
Views along the road.
Finally, we got to the poplar meadow.
After the glade, the road diverges in three directions, if you go there, then you can get to the waterfall of the gorge 21 kilometers, but I decided to postpone the trip there until warmer times.
From there we came.
And they went to the right to look for a place for a halt, on the road we came across a hollow where the sun does not fall, winter is right here.
Here, higher, and these are the views.
Red hawthorn, found throughout the gorge, you can eat, well, the berries taste, so to speak, almost tasteless.
So we got to the end point, in this clearing, we drank tea, took a picture, and returned home ...
Photos of this trip were used to create a slide show, see it here:
