Not far from the village of Begar, which is located 27 kilometers from the Varzob highway, there is a small recreation area called "Gulobod". Beyond this recreation area is the Begar gorge, which is of interest to us. Often you can hear people talk about a place called "waterfall gorge", in my opinion, the real waterfall gorge is the Begar gorge, as there are many waterfalls here and they are very beautiful.
Previously, this whole area was private property, but now it's a recreation area, which is very pleasing. And, by the way, I would like to express my huge gratitude to the staff for keeping an eye on the gorge... The trail is very comfortable, reinforced where necessary, and widened where necessary. In several places where the trail crosses the river, there are small bridges. Everywhere is clean and tidy, not like usual - traces of livestock and remnants from firewood gathering.
Although, of course, they could have refused to let us into this gorge, citing the fact that it's private or only for vacationers... But we didn't want to take any chances and took a detour to get into the gorge. In the photo, we are climbing along the trail that circumvents the recreation area along the ridge. The road in the photo is the Varzob highway, and the village across the river is Begar.
Climbing the trail, another interesting feature of the Begar Gorge catches your eye ... We are talking about a man-made lake. This lake was made a long time ago, at a time when it was all completely private. The bottleneck in the gorge was blocked by a dam and the lake was ready, the decision is certainly controversial, but interesting. Here is a photo of the lake from the upper path.
These photos I took on the way back, that is, closer.

And this is the dam itself, which forms the lake.
Above, I already wrote about a convenient path, a few photos for clarity.
A small bridge, such bridges are available in all places where the path crosses the river, it’s just some kind of holiday...
A few words about the river, along the entire length there are many small large waterfalls, just the gorge has a sharp slope and it turns out that the whole gorge is like one big waterfall. Here is a photo of the river and these small waterfalls.
Now we turn to the main one - Begara Falls ... By the way, there are several of them, and the very first one didn’t get into the frame for the reason that, again, the personnel from the recreation area probably tried to build something from the waterfall, maybe they didn’t finish it, maybe it didn’t work out, but I didn’t take off this squalor. In my opinion, nature is the best artist and sometimes you don’t have to invent anything in order to be beautiful, just let it be what is.
And the waterfalls that occur later only confirm my judgment, this is one of them...
The waterfall is surrounded by mountains, beauty.
The lower bowl, which in turn also goes into a small waterfall.
The pressure of the water is not weak, in order to resist, you have to hold on to the wall.
Next, we meet another very beautiful waterfall.
Top view of this waterfall, you can see how cool it all breaks off, just an amazing gorge.
The next waterfall is small, but colorful, it will be the last in our story. Of course, there are still waterfalls further, but we only got to this point, began to swim, sunbathe ... In short, our research ardor died out.
Photos with me for scale, so to speak.
I’ll also throw a few photos from Beghar Gorge, let's say, to feel the atmosphere.
Finally, a view of the Varzob River from the observation deck in the Recreation Area.
All the best to you!
And until we meet again in the virtual and real :)
